This collection consists of a Confederate States of America 4 percent registered bond in the amount of $1,000 made out to "The Mechanics Bank." It was issued at Richmond Virginia, October 27, 1864. While there is no place listed for the Mechanics Bank, there was a Mechanics Savings Bank of Savannah during this period in Savannah, Georgia; the two banks may be the same.
